Latrán is a small area but it is very dense. You should wear comfortable shoes because the streets are mostly cobblestone. The district is best explored on foot to see the small details. You do not need a map for every single turn. The fun of Latrán is getting a little lost in the curves. Most back streets eventually lead back to the river or the castle. The courtyards are open to the public and offer great shade.

Explore the secret courtyards located behind the monastery walls. These spaces often host small art exhibits or craft markets in 2026. You can find a peaceful bench and watch the castle towers from below. The perspective from these gardens is unique and very photogenic. It is a great place to escape the afternoon heat during the summer months.

The walk from the monastery to the river takes only five minutes. This path offers several spots to sit by the water and watch the rafters go by.

Day 1: Evening (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM): As the sun sets, the back streets of Latrán take on a golden glow. This is the time to find local dining spots tucked away from the main square. Look for taverns with heavy wooden doors and low ceilings. These places serve traditional South Bohemian dishes like roast duck or garlic soup. The atmosphere is cozy and very historic.

After dinner, walk toward the Cloak Bridge for a night view. Even though the bridge is part of the State Castle and Chateau, the view from Latrán is stunning.
